Urban solid waste management presents a complex challenge involving technical, social, and environmental aspects. At the local level, the implementation of the reduce, reuse, recycle (3R) principles in waste management still faces significant obstacles, including limited infrastructure, low public awareness, and minimal citizen participation in waste segregation at the source. This study aims to address these gaps by exploring the social and environmental dynamics that influence the effectiveness of urban waste management systems, particularly through the integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA). A qualitative approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with five relevant informant groups: municipal environmental agency officials, TPS/TPA coordinators, community-based waste bank leaders, urban residents, and environmental experts. The findings indicate that community engagement through participatory approaches and the application of LCA-SLCA can enhance waste management effectiveness, despite existing limitations in infrastructure and facilities. These results have both theoretical and practical implications, serving as a foundation for developing more inclusive, sustainable, and evidence-based urban waste management policies.
