This study aims to deeply understand how the implementation of Islamic
business principles influences the empowerment of Micro, Small, and
Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kendari City. Using a descriptive
qualitative approach, data were obtained through participatory
observation, in-depth interviews with MSME owners and Islamic
cooperative managers, and documentation.
The findings show that Islamic values such as honesty (ṣidq), justice (‘adl),
transparency (tablīgh), and trustworthiness (amānah) contribute significantly to building a resilient business character, increasing
customer trust, and strengthening business sustainability. Islamic
cooperatives also play a key role by providing interest-free financing and
spiritual economic education.
However, the implementation still faces challenges such as a low level of
Islamic financial literacy and a lack of optimal synergy among supporting
institutions. This article suggests a more integrated policy strategy to
support economic transformation based on Islamic values.
